Name: Andrew Riddle
Job title: Business Partner
First job in the industry: Marketing Assistant, Mail Order Company
What is your area of expertise:
I really enjoy seeing data, technology and creativity coming together to generate a connected customer experience. An individual, one to one relationship can be powerful, meaningful and ignite lifetime value for the brand and customer. It positions marketing and communications as a cool and exciting place industry 🙂
What do you love most about your job?
Working with a talented and like-minded team. Culture is important to me in a working environment, and I love seeing teams and clients grow – working hard and celebrating the goodness that we create.
In a digital first world, what excites you about print?
I think programmatic direct mail is an interesting evolution. Offering precision, speed to market and superior results. As a discipline, it reaffirms direct mail as a powerful form of communication, one that should be seriously considered in the modern marketing mix.
What’s caught your eye on your doormat?
A very broad set of direct mail. Bens Gutters is interesting with what looks like a handwritten post it type of communication. And now, as I get that little bit older, I do like a Sarah Raven plant brochure, beautifully designed, rich with colour and just makes you want to buy yet more plants!
Where is your mail spot in your home?
Kitchen table for the day and then, if kept, the sitting room to read later. I generally only opt into brands I want to hear from which means I receive a lot of wonderful, insight-led communications.
We are all in office 3 days a week at Dragonfly HQ in Edinburgh’s lively West-end, tell us something about your weekly journey to the office?
I am lucky to live in a beautiful seaside town which means a 30 minute train ride into Edinburgh. The East Lothian scenery is stunning, and it always fills me with joy knowing my home is so close to the office. And of course, Edinburgh is like a ‘village’, so everything is very accessible.
Your best work from home tip?
Find a place to work at home where you can shut the door at the end of the day. Separate work and home life the best you can, allowing for ‘me’ time. And make sure you do a short walk or run at lunchtime; it helps with your wellbeing.
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
To bring happiness to everyone.
If you didn’t do this, your job would be….
Flying the world as an airline pilot. Mind you, I don’t think anyone would trust me to fly them!
