SOFII's I Wish I'd Thought Of That (IWITOT) event has to be one of the best charity events The Dragonfly Agency has ever been to.

Held in London at the super cool UNICEF UK offices, the event takes on a very simple yet effective format. A selection of hand picked speakers from across the charity and fundraising arena present an idea that they feel changed the face of the sector - but their idea can not be from the organisation they represent. The audience then vote for their favourite to crown the IWITOT winner for 2019.

IWITOT, London 2019

Throughout the half day event we laughed, we cried, we were shocked, we were amazed, and we learnt a lot! Our favourites included:

  • Hearing how over $345,000 was raised for trans charity, Mermaids, thanks to a 50 hour Donkey Kong 64 stream. It opened our eyes to the world of gaming and how it holds the key to a captive and generous audience
  • How do you create empathy for difficult causes if you haven't been effected by them directly yourself? We loved hearing about the bits of plastic that were included in mail packs in India to demonstrate to the recipient what reading with a cataract would be like if they held the plastic in front of the letter
  • Using social media to create conversation and engage people to post their own pictures or experiences, just like Shelter did on Twitter for #duvetknowitschristmas
  • Seeing how smaller charities can get creative, like the Bronx Zoo did by offering a light-hearted Valentines gift in the form of naming one of their 50,000 cockroaches - perfect for the love of your life, or that ex!
